About this course
The course is taught in English.
This course is there to help reactive dogs and those with big emotions ❤️
Imagine you’re at a party. You have never been at this place, you are surrounded by unfamiliar people and it’s hard to figure out how to act among them. Also, there are dogs and you are afraid of dogs if they approach you too quickly. You wish, you could find a quiet corner to observe the situation first. You wish for someone introducing you to the people and dogs.
That’s how many dogs feel when faced with new situations, unfamiliar dogs or strangers.
For some, this discomfort shows as barking, lunging or growling. Others may freeze or act overly excited. It’s their way of saying, “I don’t know what to do!”
On my Social Walks I provide a safe, supportive and non-judgemental environment where your dog can learn to feel more at ease and confident.
Through a mix of walking and stationary training, your dog will practice calm behavior, improve social skills and learn tools to handle new and challenging situations.
You as the handler will learn how to support your dog in a way that strengthens their confidence and skills to cope – which is also great for your bond.
Social Walks aren’t just about helping your dog. They are about giving you both the tools and confidence to go through your days with less stress and more joy.
How it works
This course combines walking sessions and stationary training:
-
Walks: We take walks in different outdoor locations, giving your dog the opportunity to practice calm behaviour and communication in real-life scenarios.
-
Stationary sessions: We work in controlled setups where the distance between dogs is fully adjustable to their needs. Natural barriers like trees and bushes provide extra comfort, allowing them to see each other on their terms and practice healthy coping mechanisms.
The training is always supportive, structured and focused on learning at your dog’s pace.
I aim for 3 walks and 3 stationary sessions, but will adjust, depending on the teams participating in the course to ensure that everyone gets the most out of the course.
And the best:
You can continue to participate in my future Social Walks classes for a minimal fee, with new dogs and opportunities for learning.
Your trainer
Hi, I’m Doreen! I grew up in Germany, but moved to Iceland and made it my home.
These days, I am helping dog owners build better relationships with their dogs. Knowing that behaviour is also shaped by nutrition, I am just as passionate about raw dog food and I love guiding people keeping their dogs healthy and make them both smile.
I believe with all my heart that a mix of good training and healthy food is the best way to bring out the best in your dog.
Let’s work together to make that happen! ❤️
